FAQs
-
The cutlery is made of Solinatra®, a material that is 100% natural and plant based. Patented processes have been developed to create a material from plants such as wheat and oats, to create a material that has the good characteristics of plastic without any of the negatives.
The cutlery contains zero plastic or fossil fuel derived ingredients, and leaves behind zero microplastics when it degrades. 100% natural, zero plastic!
-
The cutlery is fully biodegradable and compostable. If you have access to food waste bins or compost bins, dispose of the cutlery there. If not, dispose of it with general waste where it will degrade (it will just take a while longer than in a compost bin!)
-
No – the cutlery is not plastic and won’t be recycled. Dispose of it in food waste or general waste bins where it will fully degrade.
-
Yes! The cutlery is designed to be able to eat hot and cold food just as you would with any other disposable cutlery. It may go soft or slightly bendy if you leave it in boiling or very hot water/liquids, but it will firm up again as it cools.
-
The cutlery is designed to be single use, however you can wash it up with warm water and washing up liquid to reuse it. The surface of the cutlery may not feel so smooth after washing it up as the surface of the material has been disrupted. It is not designed to be washed in a dishwasher.
-
If exposed to very hot water or liquids, the cutlery may go slightly white in colour. This is completely normal and not at all harmful, it is an effect of the water on the material.
