About Solinatra
-
Solinatra products are 100% natural and plant based. Solinatra is derived from agricultural waste, and after use, Solinatra decays back into soil to grow new agricultural crops—a truly circular product!
-
Solinatra is made of natural ingredients derived from plants. We utilise agricultural or food manufacturing waste, such as rapeseed and coffee grounds, to repurpose it to create biopolymers, gaining an extra life from organic matter.
-
Solinatra is made by repurposing plant waste from harvested crops, giving new life to existing resources. The plant material is processed, dried, and milled to a fine powder. Patented processes compound the plant powder with natural additives to create a pellet that can be moulded into shape.
-
Solinatra can be used to make various applications in different sectors and a huge range of single-use items, such as food packaging, cup lids, disposable cutlery, and coffee capsules.
Solinatra focusses on creating materials that can replace products that would otherwise be polluting and hard to recycle. By focussing on these products that would otherwise be sent to landfills or littered, Solinatra provides a solution to widespread environmental issues, and allowing true sustainability throughout the chain.
-
Solinatra is both biodegradable and compostable. Only natural products are used to make Solinatra; only natural products are left behind to decompose naturally. At the end of its life, Solinatra will fully break down without leaving behind any microplastics or contaminants.
-
Solinatra is both home and industrially compostable. Products made of Solinatra can be collected with food waste in kerbside collections for industrial or municipal composting. At home, products made of Solinatra can be disposed of after use in garden composters, bokashi or vermicomposting systems.
All products made of 100% Solinatra material are compostable and leave behind only water, CO2 and biomass – enriching compost and creating high quality fertiliser.
-
Solinatra materials are compostable and not designed for traditional recycling streams. However, if products made of Solinatra enter the plastic recycling stream, they will either filtered out by automatic sorting systems or become incorporated into it. Studies show that biomaterials such as Solinatra do not negatively impact the recycled end-material.
-
Solinatra materials are designed to seamlessly integrate with existing machinery. Our grades are available for endless applications and are ideal for your manufacturing processes.

Coffee Capsules
-
Solinatra coffee capsules have a 12-month shelf life. After this time, the coffee will start to lose its flavour. Store in an airtight container in a cool and dry place to retain the best aroma!
-
Used coffee capsules will compost in the same time frame as a banana skin, leaving nothing behind but biomass. The temperature and conditions of your compost bin affect the length of time taken, but it is only a matter of weeks. The capsules contain only natural ingredients and break down without leaving behind any toxic residues or harmful microplastics.
-
Heat and moisture kickstarts the decomposition process, which means capsules won’t begin to degrade until they’ve been used in a coffee machine.
Unused capsules have a shelf life of 12 months, store in a cool, dry place and in an airtight container to preserve the coffee aroma.
-
Solinatra coffee pods are 100% plant based and turn white within a minute of your coffee pouring. This is simply an effect of the hot water on the natural material, it roughens the surface of the material which aids the process of biodegrading.
-
If you have a compost bin at home, your used coffee capsules can go straight into the bin and will provide nutrients to your garden. There’s no need to separate the pod or the lid, the whole capsule can go straight into your compost heap.
If you have a food waste collection, the coffee capsule can go in with your food waste and will be industrially composted by your local council.
If you have neither a food waste bin nor a compost heap, your coffee capsule can go in with general waste.
However you dispose of your used capsules, they will degrade with zero contamination.
