Solinatra Wins National Sustainability Prize at the FSB Awards
We are overjoyed to announce that Solinatra has won the Environmental/Sustainability Award at the national Federation of Small Business (FSB) Awards, which took place yesterday in Glasgow.
Following our win at the East of England awards in March, we were through to the national awards to compete against stiff competition from around the UK.
Hosted by Clare Balding and JJ Chalmers, the glitzy FSB Awards ceremony took place at the Radisson Blu hotel in Glasgow, bringing together winners from twelve regions in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Speaking after the win, Chief Commercial Officer Simon Girdlestone said: “We are very excited to be recognised by FSB and win the top award in the environmental/sustainability category.
“Years of research and development have gone into the creation of an innovative material designed to be truly sustainable, and something we are really proud of.”
Solinatra impressed the judges with our innovative approach to tackling a global issue, utlising abundant plant waste local to R&D Centre in Norfolk. FSB National Chair Martin McTague, said: “The issue of plastic pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time. It’s great to see a small business taking on such a huge problem and creating something that not only is truly biogradable, but also uses and diverts plant and agricultural waste to do so.
“The coffee capsule market is big business and creating an alternative that decomposes in the same time as a banana skin is really exciting. I want to congratulate all at Solinatra and wish them success as they continue to innovate and make a difference in the packaging industry.”
Joining us at the awards were our guests Aimee and Euan from Gordon St Coffee, as the first coffee brand to use our revolutionary capsules it was a real joy to share the event with the Glasgow natives!
