Coco-Nots®
When is a coconut not a coconut? When it's a Coco-Not®!
We're pleased to introduce Coco-Not® shells - an innovation for garden birds, and for your garden! Peckish Natural Balance Coco-Nots® are high energy bird feeders, containing the perfect blend of seeds to nourish garden birds throughout the winter seasons, and contained in a plant-based Solinatra shell that composts in a garden.
The birdfeeder shells are made of Solinatra and are plastic-free, eco-friendly, bird-friendly - and can be composted in a garden compost bin once the birds have finished enjoying the nutritious filling.
A Sustainable Solution
Coconuts, whilst a natural product - do not grow in the UK, and so empty shells are imported after being shipped thousands of miles around the world. And being a natural product, there is a huge amount of variance in the size and shape of the shells, meaning that the empty shells must be filled manually by hand. By creating moulded shells made of Solinatra, the product can be entirely manufactured in the UK, using UK grown materials and the consistent size of the shells means that the product can be filled automatically - reducing both cost, waste and time.
Further to the manufacturing benefits, the natural variance in size of coconut shells meant smaller products were often wasted - consumers would choose the largest shell on the shelf, leaving behind the smaller and more unusual sized products which would often be returned to the producer. By switching to Solinatra, there is no waste in the production process and the uniformity of the shells means there is no waste for retailers.
For All British Birds
The Coco-Not® feeders are available in the UK as a single pack or in a box of four, and packaged in 100% recyclable and UK manufactured packaging. The Coco-Nots® complement the Peckish range of bird feeds, which are available in plastic-free packaging - offering a full range of eco-friendly products for customers.
The UK is a nation of bird lovers – and with biodiversity in decline, and bird populations declining due to habitat loss and climate change, it’s ever more important to offer food sources to native and migratory birds.
