All Participants in Consumer Test Prefer Solinatra Cutlery & Straws Over Plastic, Paper, and Bamboo Alternatives

Jakarta, 7 January 2025 – In a Focus Group Discussion at Solinatra Indonesia office, randomly selected office workers (aged 20–30s) evaluated Solinatra cutlery and straws against plastic, paper, and bamboo alternatives. Participants exhibited diverse dining habits—some frequently ordered food with disposable utensils, others carried personal cutlery, and some chose to dine in to minimise waste. A common sentiment emerged: the need for high-quality and sustainable alternatives like Solinatra.

Exceptional Strength and Ergonomic Design

Compared to other materials, Solinatra cutlery stood out for its durability and ergonomic feel.

C, 32, an entrepreneur, said, "The design is very strong. It’s not just straight but has ribs on both sides, making it ergonomic."

Z, 25, shared a negative experience with plastic cutlery: "I was eating rendang, and the plastic utensils broke. I wasn’t at my dorm or office, so I couldn’t eat because the utensil broke."

P, 23, added, "The texture is sturdier. When you eat with plastic or other materials, it can break easily. But with this, no. I tried cutting meat with it, and it works just fine."

Superior Straw Experience

Participants praised Solinatra straws for their durability, comfort, and lightweight construction.

S, 29, a healthcare officer, shared, "Compared to plastic or paper straws, Solinatra is far better. Some paper straws, like those used for milk or Milo, are flimsy and can develop a smell if poorly stored. Solinatra is softer and avoids the sharp edges of plastic, making it much more pleasant to use."

Z, 25, remarked that Solinatra is "Clearly superior to plastic."

L, 24, expressed a preference for Solinatra, saying, "Comfortable. I like this because it’s sturdy and pleasant to use. If I had the option between plastic and this, I’d choose Solinatra because it’s more comfortable."

Added Value for Businesses and Consumers

Participants shared why they would prefer an outlet using Solinatra cutlery and straws over other options:

Plastic: Solinatra cutlery offers a sturdier, more reliable experience, unlike plastic cutlery that easily breaks and contributes to pollution. Solinatra straws are softer, more comfortable, and sturdy, providing a better drinking experience than plastic alternatives.

Paper: Unlike paper straws that become soggy, break apart, or often have plastic lining, Solinatra maintains durability, usability, and eco-friendliness.

Bamboo: While bamboo cutlery and straws are often seen as sustainable, they can sometimes feel rough or uncomfortable. Solinatra provides a smoother, more ergonomic experience.

Moreover, participants noted that they would be more inclined to support food outlets that prioritise sustainability by offering high-quality alternatives like Solinatra. Many felt that if a small premium was necessary, outlets could absorb it, as sustainability-conscious consumers recognise the added value and long-term benefits of reducing plastic waste.

A Superior, Sustainable Choice

With unmatched durability, comfort, and sustainability, Solinatra cutlery and straws provide a superior alternative to plastic, paper, and bamboo. Participants praised Solinatra’s ability to offer a comfortable and responsible option that aligns with both sustainability goals and everyday usability.
