Turning the Tide on Single-Use Plastics in Food and Beverages
The food and beverage industry is an essential part of our lives, but it’s also a significant contributor to global plastic pollution. The food sector is the largest consumer of single-use packaging, accounting for up to 35% of global packaging production. Shockingly, around 95% of food packaging is discarded after a single use, and only 9% of plastic waste worldwide is recycled.
This unsustainable cycle has spurred a growing number of single-use plastic bans across the globe. These bans represent an important step toward a more sustainable future. For businesses, they also signal an opportunity to adapt, innovate, and meet consumers' rising expectations for eco-friendly solutions.
